Upcoming Events in the Neighborhood: 4th in the Park
Every year on the Fourth of July, our local St. Anthony Park neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota, runs a large celebration. It begins with a race, then a parade, and finishes with a program at the bandstand in Langford Park, attended by thousands. The parade is the last 4th of July parade in the city of St. Paul. Once the program is over, Langford Park turns into one big party, with food trucks. This celebration is called: The 4th in the Park. Learn more about The 4th in the Park here.
The St. Anthony Park Branch Library Association (SAPBLA) runs an annual essay contest connected to the 4th in the Park. This year, we asked both 5th graders and 8th graders to answer a prompt about the Declaration of Independence. The winning essayists will be riding in the parade, and reading their essays from the bandstand during the program after the parade. You can read more about the essays here. Personally, I found our essayists inspiring this year.
