Employee Spotlight: Kimberly Van Hallen
I’m excited to be working for Chris as her full-time paralegal! I have been working part-time for Courtney Law Office since 2023. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working for such a thoughtful and intelligent lawyer, and successful businesswoman. Working with Chris allows me to focus on expanding my legal expertise, invest in and contribute to the growth of Courtney Law Office, and address the needs of every individual client.
Working alongside Chris in estate planning, probate, and estate administration has reignited my sincere desire to help others. I really value being able to help our clients plan ahead to reduce that stress as much as possible for their loved ones for when that time comes, hopefully long, long into the future. I am enjoying learning and being trained to help our clients navigate estate administration for when that time does come, in my new role on this side of Chris’ practice. While I’ve been doing paralegal work for ten years now, I have found that working in estate planning and administration gives my legal work meaning and a sense of community as a fellow human being—that was missing in the other areas of law I’ve worked in.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Scholastica in English and my paralegal certificate from North Hennepin Community College. I have been working as a paralegal since 2016 and previously worked in real estate law, contract litigation, collections, landlord/tenant law, criminal law, and family law.
Although I do have three brothers, none of them are named Eddie or Alex. So no, I am not related to the rock band. My maiden last name is “Van” and my husband’s last name is “Hallen”, so when we married, it seemed a waste not to. I am Minnesota-born and raised, and living in Roseville with my husband Jamie and our cat Chloe. If we’re not out attending a musical, a play, or a Saint’s game, I’m probably in the garden battling beetles, attempting to trellis tomatoes, or deciding where I can fit just one more coneflower. Or peony bush? Hostas.
I can be reached at (612) 356-2635 or kimberly@courtneylawoffice.com. Yes, I am now the person answering the phone line!
