Chicago Dog

The best way to consume a hot dog.

Submitted by my sister, Kate. She may have been volun-told. I did get permission to attribute to her.

Ingredients:

  • hot dog (Vienna beef)
  • poppyseed hot dog buns
  • sport peppers
  • yellow mustard
  • celery salt
  • diced onions (white)
  • pickle spears
  • neon green pickle relish
  • tomatoes, sliced

Equipment:

  • whatever equipment you normally use to heat up a hot dog (me: “How do you prefer to heat it? Grill? Steam?” My sister: “I don’t care, truly.”)
  • plate

Directions:

  1. Heat hot dog
  2. Place hot dog in bun
  3. Assemble ingredients on top of the hot dog in the bun according to your preference. (Me: “What’s the order of ingredients?” My sister: “There isn’t an order! You just do it!”)

All notes are quotes from my sister:

Additional Note: “I am not a purist and I don’t care if you put ketchup on it.”

Another Additional Note: “But the reason that people say not to bother with ketchup is because the Chicago Dog already has all the elements of ketchup on it with the other ingredients, so why bother.”

Final Additional Note: “You should try the Chicago Dog once in its entirety before you decide to alter it.”

Actual Final Additional Note: “Can we be done now?”
